Florida rapper Franky Venegas, known by his stage name Kodiyakredd, found himself in legal trouble after being arrested during a routine traffic stop in Collier County. The 23-year-old, who gained fame as one-half of the viral TikTok duo “Island Boys,” was taken into custody on charges of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and carrying a firearm with an altered serial number. The incident unfolded when the driver of the yellow Corvette he was riding in failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, prompting law enforcement to intervene.
During the traffic stop, a K-9 unit was brought in to search the vehicle. Authorities discovered a clear plastic bag containing five Oxycodone pills on the passenger side floorboard, along with a handbag holding a spray-painted blue handgun, a plastic straw, and credit cards bearing Venegas’ name. The firearm, notably lacking a serial number, raised further suspicions. Venegas initially denied ownership of the pills, claiming he had no knowledge of their origin. He later asserted that he had a valid prescription for Oxycodone but failed to provide any documentation to support his claim.
Following his arrest, Venegas was booked at the Naples Jail Center but was released on bond the following day. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 17 to address the charges. This is not the first time Venegas has faced legal issues. Earlier in May, he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale for allegedly impersonating his twin brother during a reckless driving incident. Additionally, he was previously accused of domestic violence in Broward County, though those charges were eventually dropped.
Venegas and his twin brother, Alex, who goes by the stage name Flyysoulja, rose to fame in 2021 with their viral hit “I’m an Island Boy.” The song, coupled with their distinctive appearance and social media presence, catapulted them into the spotlight as TikTok influencers. However, their newfound fame has been marred by a series of legal troubles, raising questions about their ability to navigate the challenges of stardom.
The arrest has sparked discussions about the pressures faced by young celebrities in the digital age, where viral fame can often come with unforeseen consequences. As Venegas prepares to face the legal system, his case serves as a reminder of the complexities that accompany life in the public eye. Whether this incident will mark a turning point in his career or merely another chapter in a turbulent journey remains to be seen.
