Update Randy Rainey sentenced to 10 years at 100% in TDOC custody

Undercover sexual predator sting by PCSO and Hero mom; one local resident in custody!
Sheriff Nick Weems reported that on Friday evening, he was contacted by a concerned mother in regards to a man who made an awful request. The man was wanting to purchase or trade merchandise in exchange for her to allow her 13 yr old daughter to spend the night with him. He said he wanted to preform various sexual acts to the juvenile.
The Sheriff brought in the District Attorney, and assigned Deputies Jason Morrow, Alan Daniel and Inv. Mike Stockstill to set up an undercover operation. The Sheriff also talked with the TBI to assist in the case. The mother of the juvenile also assisted the agencies throughout the entirety of the night.
At approximately 2:45am, the alleged perpetrator, 32 yr old Randy Rainey arrived at the set up meeting location to obtain the 13 yr old girl from her mother.
“What Rainey didn’t realize is, he would be meeting Deputies Daniel and Morrow instead. Dep. Daniel was inside the car with the mother and Dep. Morrow was waiting in the wings for visual confirmation it was the subject.” Stated the Sheriff.
Deputies surrounded Rainey’s vehicle as he pulled in front of the mothers vehicle and immediately took him into custody.
“I am so thankful we were able to take someone like that off the streets and make Perry County a safer place than it was yesterday. I also want to commend the mother in this case. She was fast thinking and made all the right calls to help protect her child. She is an example to be followed here.”
Rainey has been charged with the following crimes;
Trafficking for commercial sex act,
Exploitation of a minor by electronic means,
Solicitation of a person under 18,
Promoting prostitution, and
Possession of a prohibited weapon.
Randy Rainey remains in Custody in the Perry County Jail with a $560,000 bond.
