Authorities have identified the victim as 14-year-old Jackson Marlar. The incident occurred late Friday afternoon in the waters near Goat Island, a popular spot on the lake.
According to Lt. John McFerrin with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the fatal accident involved a collision between two jet skis. Marlar sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in Hardin County, Tennessee, where he later passed away.
The community is mourning the loss of the young teen, who was a student within the Corinth School District. His sudden passing has left classmates, teachers, and friends in deep shock and sorrow.
Officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the collision, and the incident remains under investigation. Safety on waterways remains a growing concern as summer activities increase.
