Training with a twist: Alcaraz and Ferrero’s mock fight at Paris Masters

During a Paris Masters practice, Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero got into a lighthearted “scuffle” while feigning punches. The World No. 2 and his coach have a close relationship that is visible on the court and in training, where there is always something to laugh about.

Alcaraz overcame a stiff struggle from Nicolas Jarry of Chile to have a successful debut at the Paris Masters. To get to the Round of 16, the four-time Grand Slam champion had to overcome a 3-5 deficit in the opening set and win 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets.

Alcaraz is seen enjoying a break while sitting courtside and speaking with his squad, which includes former French Open champion Ferrero, in a social media video. Ferrero once teasingly raised a bag and feigned kicking Alcaraz without actually making contact. As they both laughed, Alcaraz joined in the fun by mock-punching Ferrero a few times.

Alcaraz’s next opponent is Marcos Giron, ranked 49th in the world. Alcaraz, who was 18 at the time, defeated the American 7-6(2), 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Winston-Salem Open in 2021, the World No. 2’s sole prior meeting with the American.
