Idris Abdurashidov later claimed he and Bagher Faraji had ‘shaken hands’ and ‘made up’
Idris Abdurashidov, an MMA fighter, said he was banned from boxing “for life” after using a head kick to knock out his opponent during his first bout.
With four first-round knockouts, including one that happened in 18 and 22 seconds, Abdurashidov is 4-0 in mixed martial arts.
On Sunday, October 20, the 21-year-old Russian made his boxing debut and was knocked out, although illegally.
In the fourth round of their bout in Thailand, Abdurashidov was under siege from Bagher Faraji until he threw a head kick that knocked out the undefeated Iranian.
Abdurashidov was disqualified when the referee waved the battle off, and Faraji was instantly down cold, landing facefirst on the ground.
“So I debuted in professional boxing, and disqualification for life,” the Russian captioned a video of the incident later shared on Instagram. Additionally, he boasted, “I threw that leg kick like a machine gun.”
Abdurashidov then shared another post, showing himself and Faraji shaking hands, with the caption reading: “We shook hands between us, everything is fight, we made up.” Users were quick to condemn Abdurashidov on Instagram, with one writing: “You were getting embarrass[ed] and you had to cheat. Classless and I’m glad you’re banned for life. 0-1 boxing.”
One person wrote: “You should be prohibited from participating in any combat sport.” Another said: “The [head] kick and running away [around] the ring, if it had continued for another thirty seconds, you would have been knocked out.”
According to Abdurashidov’s Instagram bio, the Russian is 3-0 in Muay Thai in addition to his 4-0 MMA record.
