Senator Joni Ernst: “USAID dollars have gone into the pockets of fat cats around the globe”

Senator tells Fox: “I have witnessed firsthand the obstruction within USAID as we try to exercise our congressional oversight of some of these programs. We know that there are dollars that are wasted, that have gone into the pockets of fat cats around the globe, without the humanitarian aid being delivered. And yes, there are programs in USAID that are worthy of keeping. However, we have seen such complacency with oversight and direction from USAID.

 

Sometimes it takes a sledgehammer, and that’s exactly what Elon Musk is doing. He is going in, he is dismantling it. It will be scrutinized, but I can guarantee you, if there are worthy projects that really benefit Americans and our objectives, that those programs will be rebuilt, but they will have proper oversight within the State Department and in Congress.”
