Authorities have arrested a woman from Union City, Tennessee, in connection with the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest followed an investigation sparked by a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Law enforcement officials, including special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and deputies from the Obion County Sheriff’s Office, acted swiftly to address the reported concerns.
Alexis Duncan, 24, was taken into custody last Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. According to a statement from the TBI, the investigation began when agents from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a report regarding suspected child sexual abuse material. Authorities determined that Duncan had allegedly distributed illicit content on the messaging platform KIK.
Following this discovery, a search warrant was executed at Duncan’s residence on Wednesday, March 19. TBI agents, along with investigators from the Obion County Sheriff’s Office, searched the premises and seized electronic devices as part of the ongoing investigation. Duncan was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Obion County jail.
The TBI emphasized that the charges against Duncan remain allegations at this stage. As with all criminal cases, the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The legal process will determine the validity of the claims, and authorities continue to investigate the matter.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, as part of the ICAC Task Force, continues to combat online child exploitation. Officials urge anyone with information about such crimes to report it through the TBI Tipline at 1-800-TBI-FIND or the NCMEC CyberTipline at CyberTipline.org. Community awareness and swift reporting play a crucial role in preventing the exploitation of minors.
